Christoph Huber
Biografie
Christoph Huber studied conducting at the MUK and composition at the MDW in Vienna. Already during his studies, he took on assistant and cover conducting engagements, including at the Vienna Volksoper for Valtinoni’s opera Pinocchio.
From the 2019/20 season, he was engaged as Second Kapellmeister and Chorus Director at the Stadttheater Baden (BĂĽhne Baden), a position he held for three years and to which he continues to return as a guest. During this time, he served as musical director for numerous productions, including Kiss of the Spider Woman, Countess Mariza, and Nine.
From 2020 to 2022, he was Musical Director of the Youth Opera at the Theater an der Wien.
As a conductor, he has worked at the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl (musical director of Frau Luna and Madame Pompadour, as well as cover conductor for Wiener Blut and Der Vogelhändler) and with Vereinigte Bühnen Wien at the Raimund Theater (Rebecca).
In spring 2024, he conducted the world premiere of the chamber opera Lorit at the Tyrolean State Theatre in Innsbruck, as well as performances in Bolzano and Trento with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento. He also conducted the world premiere of Wolf – The Mystical at the Salzkammergut Lakeside Stage on Lake Wolfgang.
Guest conducting engagements have taken him, among others, to Albania (Albanian Radio Television Orchestra) and to the Vienna Chamber Opera (Don Giovanni). In summer, he appeared with the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra in Tunisia and with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra.
Further orchestras he has conducted include the Slovak Philharmonic, the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra, and the Synchron Stage Orchestra.
His repertoire spans opera, operetta, musical theatre, ballet, and symphonic and concert repertoire, covering all periods up to the 21st century.
