Biografie
The Ensemble “Soloists of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra” was founded in 1983.
By performing in different chamber music formations, the musicians of the reputable Vienna Chamber Orchestra carry on with an old tradition which is maintained by many established orchestras.
Performing as a chamber music ensemble shows various benefits: A manifold spectrum of different groupings can be realized (from duo to nonet); the musicians highly enjoy this different way of making music; and the very refined skills of each single player are raised even higher. Especially integrating a solo instrument like trumpet, flute or piano enables the ensemble to perform solo-concerti alike.
The ensemble’s first performances took place in the year of foundation (1983) at different European music festivals: The Vienna Music Festival (Wiener Festwochen), The Festival of Bordeaux and The Printemps Musical in Poitiers. Tours took them to France as well as to the Republic of Slovakia, Japan, Taiwan and the United States of America. Records are available: Schubert’s Forellen-Quintett and Mozart’s Piano Quartet with Philippe Entremont, string quartets and quintets of Mozart as well as the piano concerti of Chopin in a special adaptation for chamber music ensembles recorded with the pianist Ilan Rogoff.
Nowadays, the Soloists of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra are regularly invited by various festivals. One of which is the Haydn Festival Eisenstadt. The ensemble is also regular guest at The Vienna Konzerthaus.
Since several years, the Soloists of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra support St. Stephen’s Cathedral with their very successful Summer- and Advent Concert series.Â
