Biografie
Anna Tetruashvili is an Israeli lyric mezzo soprano and, since September 2025, a member of the ensemble at Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. She attracted major international attention at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival in May 2024 as Annio in La clemenza di Tito, conducted by Gianluca Capuano and staged by Robert Carsen, appearing alongside Cecilia Bartoli. In August 2024, The New York Times named her among the festival’s breakout artists, praising her vivid emotional range and consistently beautiful, at times strikingly fierce tone.
Her artistic path led from the opera studio of the Tbilisi State Conservatory to Vienna, where she appeared at the Schönbrunn Palace Theatre in roles including Eduige in Handel’s Rodelinda and Idamante in Mozart’s Idomeneo. In Munich she joined the Gärtnerplatztheater Opera Studio, performing roles such as Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni. In January 2025 she made her debut at Opéra de Monte Carlo, again as Annio in La clemenza di Tito in a production by Jetske Mijnssen, returning to perform alongside Cecilia Bartoli under Gianluca Capuano. In the 2025/26 season at Gärtnerplatztheater she adds Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Flora in a new production of La traviata, and covers the title role in Carmen.
Tetruashvili trained at the Tbilisi State Conservatory and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), graduating with honours in June 2024. She has received several international competition awards, including First Prize for Female Voice, “Teresa Berganza”, at the Cascais Opera International Competition 2025, the Bärenreiter Special Prize at the Salzburg International Mozart Competition 2023, and top prizes at Premio Scarlatti in Vilnius and the AntonĂn Dvořák International Singing Competition. She has also worked in masterclasses with artists such as Silvana Bazzoni Bartoli and KS Brigitte Fassbaender.
