Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla
Biography
The native Lithuanian Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla comes from Vilnius and is the daughter of a musicians family. First, she completed a study of the choral and orchestral conducting at the Graz University of music and performing arts in Austria, 2007 she graduated with a Bachelor's degree. Then, she deepened her studies at the Conservatory in Leipzig and Bologna, as well as at the Hochschule der Künste Zürich.
In addition, she participated in numerous master classes. She is the 1st Prize Winner at the international competition for young choral conductor in Budapest 2007, 3rd prize winner at the international conducting competition in Stavanger 2008 and 2nd prize winner at the German high school orchestra conducting 2011.
Mirga Gražinyte-Tyla is a fellow of the conductor forum of the German Music Council, from which she was discovered and promoted since April 2009.
With the 2010/11 season she was signed for two seasons as a second bandmaster at the theater Heidelberg, whereby she also received the possibility to draw up a broad operatic and concert repertoire. In April 2012, the 26 year old Mirga Gražinyte-Tyla was selected by an international jury chaired by Ingo Metzmacher from 91 applicants and at the final concert in the Felsenreitschule of the Salzburger Festspielhaus with the coveted »Nestle and Salzburg Festival young conductors Award« awarded. Herewith connected was a prizewinners concert with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra at the Salzburg Festival in August 2012.
As a dynamic, deep and talented artist, Mirga Gražinyte-Tyla recommended herself at Kurt Masurs conducting seminar »the art of conducting Beethoven« 2009 in Bonn, whereupon she was engaged by the Beethoven Orchestra for the »Beethoven night«. Also Kurt Masur invited her to direct with him two other young conductors in December 2010 a set of Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.
Her previous career highlights are amongst others: performances of »AIDA« and »Carmen« and »Las Cartas de Frida« of the mexican composer Marcela Rodriguez at the Theater Heidelberg; »La Traviata« in Osnabrück, concerts with the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig with amongst others Igor of Stravinsky's »The Firebird« on the program, as well as the Philharmonie Südwestfalen, the Bergische Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Kaunas and the Camerata Salzburg.
