Biography
Valerie Leopold was born in Vienna in 1991. She began playing the violin at the age of four in a Suzuki group led by Deborah Ullreich, and continued her studies with Agnes FĂĽhrlinger. From 2003 onwards, she attended the preparatory programme at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Eugenia Polatschek, and also worked with Juri Polatschek.
In 2004, she made her orchestral debut with the Czech Virtuosi. She is a prizewinner of Austria’s youth competition “Prima la Musica” at both regional and national level. Valerie Leopold completed her Bachelor’s degree in violin with Amiram Ganz at the Vienna Konservatorium Private University, and is currently studying string chamber music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the class of Johannes Meissl.
A dedicated chamber musician, she has appeared repeatedly at the summer festival in Gurk and is a regular guest at the Musikalischer Sommer in Ostfriesland. Since 2014, she has been performing for “Live Music Now”. She is a member of the Hathor Ensemble and Camerata Orphica, and her concert engagements have taken her to many European countries as well as Turkey. She is currently involved in the virtual reality film production “Ballavita” by Amilux Film. Alongside her musical work, she focuses intensively on body awareness and perception, and is a Franklin Method® movement educator, Level 2.
