Biography
Herbert Lippert was born in Linz and is a former member of the Vienna Boy's Choir and Grammy Award winner. He is one of the most sought-after tenors of our time. The first patrons of his voice were Sir Georg Solti and Wolfgang Sawallisch, under whose direction numerous award-winning recordings were made.
The artist has performed at the most important opera houses and festivals, especially in Mozart's works. (Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Salzburg Festival).
He had great successes with song recitals together with Wolfgang Sawallisch, Maurizio Pollini and Fabio Luisi. At the moment he is dedicated to singing songs in collaboration with the pianist Eduard Kutrowatz.
Herbert Lippert has recorded over 300 recordings, including Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Franz Welser-Möst, Leopold Hager, Julius Rudel, Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Sir Simon Rattle, Wolfgang Sawallisch and Sir Georg Solti.
Herbert Lippert has been an ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera since 1984, where he sings the major tenor parts such as "Lohengrin" , "Peter Grimes", "Florestan" or "Eisenstein".
